My favourite IT TOOL in padlet

There are many resources and IT tools that can be found in the it padlet. One of the favourite tools that i wish to use in my classroom is the mentimeter.

 I love the tool because it is an easy tool to use for the teachers to kick off the lesson as well to know about students background information about the topic .This tool proves to be the best option to increase students engagement and participation and motivation to learn about the topic beforehand . It's super exciting to have your answers on the screen and as teacher acknowledge students feedback, it may enhance the students interest to further engage in the lesson. .

ISTE Standards assignment

 Hi there!

Last week, my Fulbright friends and I had learned new thing in my ICT class with Holly which is the UDL; universal design learning. one of the highlights of the lesson is regarding the ISTE Standards. As teachers in this 21st century, these standards are vital to be taken into consideration when designing a lesson plan and creating preferrable classroom environment.

There are two ISTE standards for students that I would like to implement in my classroom. The first one is the empowered learner, and the second one is knowledge constructor. why i choose these two standards is because it allows me to incorporate higher order thinking of the students for their learning outcomes as mentioned in the bloom taxonomy.  Between these standards, I think the most important standard is the knowledge constructor. knowledge constructor is where the students would use the technology to actively build knowledge by exploring real world issues and problems, developing ideas and creating solutions. By this, students will be given authority as the change makers or even good digital citizens where they will identify the issues, understand, analyze, evaluate and delve into the issues critically and share the findings and solutions to others as to create awareness about the matter. Furthermore, students can involve the audience or other digital citizens in continuous works and projects. For instances, students can use the blog to share ideas and opinions and video to introduce the issues and problems facing by the world or conducting the case study by using the google sheet to create a survey to create awareness regarding any current issues. 

Here, I personally think that it is the most important standard for students where this leads to autonomous learning not only for the students but also to the other digital readers and citizens. What do you think?

My biggest surprise during my Fulbright program

 

To be honest,  I would say there are so many surprises I have encountered during my first week Fulbright experience .

First, I didn't expect that Chico would be so beautiful at night and the day, the sky is so blue and clear. Plus, all the people that I met here were so friendly and I feel like staying in my own country. As I am wearing  hijab, I thought I might be a bit weird to the people. however, they didn't give any strange looks or rude acts, they respected and even some of the students in California State University even opened the door to me.

On the other hand, I was so surprised that Chico is an indeed a countryside. I love big cities, though and sadly it didn't meet my expectation  . Still, I am deeply in love with the unique aspects that the California state university own , such as the historical buildings, greenery trees and wonderful campuses.

initial thoughts on Fulbright TEA

Greetings from Chico!

I'm Nurul Huda and I'm one of the Fulbright fellows for FTEA Spring cohort  . I  am proud to be part of this FTEA Spring cohort in Chico, California and I was super excited to kick off my learning journey. 

Today was my first day having class with Holly in California State University Chico, campus. It was indeed a wonderful and amazing class! And, Holly is A drop dead gorgeous woman whom I have ever seen! So, our classes was basically learning about google tools and apps that we can integrate in our classroom. today, we have covered topics on creating google forms and also creating our own blog. Know what, this is my first  entry post!
