To be honest, I would say there are so many surprises I have encountered during my first week Fulbright experience .
First, I didn't expect that Chico would be so beautiful at night and the day, the sky is so blue and clear. Plus, all the people that I met here were so friendly and I feel like staying in my own country. As I am wearing hijab, I thought I might be a bit weird to the people. however, they didn't give any strange looks or rude acts, they respected and even some of the students in California State University even opened the door to me.
On the other hand, I was so surprised that Chico is an indeed a countryside. I love big cities, though and sadly it didn't meet my expectation . Still, I am deeply in love with the unique aspects that the California state university own , such as the historical buildings, greenery trees and wonderful campuses.

I'm so happy to read these comments. Chico is a very friendly, welcoming town. Day and night brings with it a lovely environment, and I'm so glad you are finding it a place that is welcoming. I know that many times participants are surprised at our 'small town', but never fear, you will get to see some big cities in your travels!!
